Everything you need to know about Milos

Join us for our wedding on Saturday 3 July 2027. While you're here to celebrate with us, we hope you also fall in love with the magic of Milos.

  • By Air

The fastest way to reach Milos is by plane. Flights from Athens International Airport (ATH) to Milos Island National Airport (MLO) take approx. 30–40 minutes. Airlines such as Sky Express, Olympic Air, and Aegean Airlines offer regular services, especially during the summer season.

Please note: Flights may occasionally be affected by windy weather.

    • Cost: Approx. €100–€250, depending on the season and availability

    • Getting to Adamas (Milos Port): From the airport, it’s a short 5-minute taxi or 15-minute bus ride to Adamas, the island’s main port town

    By Ferry

The easiest route from Athens to Milos via ferry is from Piraeus Port, Athens’ main harbour. If you're bringing a car, you can reserve a spot for it on the ferry.

    Fast Ferry

    • Duration: Approx. 2.5 to 3.5 hours

    • Cost: Approx. €75 per person

    Slow Ferry

    • Duration: Between 5 to 7 hours

    • Cost: Around €45 to €50 per person

Ferries run multiple times daily during peak season. Tickets can be booked in advance online. We recommend using Ferry Scanner to check schedules and secure your seats/reserve a space for your car.

If you need any help booking or navigating the ferry system, please contact us.

  • If you don’t have transportation

We recommend staying in Plaka or Adamas (Adamantas). These are the two biggest towns on the island, with plenty of restaurants, bars, cafes, bakeries, shops and easy access to taxis and public buses.

If You Have Your Own Transportation

Milos is a small island, so no matter where you stay, you're never too far from anything. If you're renting a car or scooter, you’ll be fine staying anywhere on the island as nothing is more than a 40-minute drive away.

    Accommodation Options

Milos offers a wide variety of places to stay, from luxurios to budget friendly accomodation.

Booking.com features a great selection of mid-range to luxury hotels and guesthouses.

We are currently in contact with a few hotels in Milos who will be offering a discounted rate for our guests. Please check this page at a later date for updates, or contact us for more information.

Airbnb is ideal for everything from budget-friendly apartments to private villas.

Please note: Our wedding falls during peak season, so we recommend booking your accommodation as soon as possible.

    Areas to Avoid

While Klima is a beautiful place to visit, we recommend avoiding accomodation in this area due to tricky access. Most paths to rooms are built on platforms that are often underwater and slippery.

  • Beaches

The most beautiful beaches in Milos are free!

Skip the beach bars, pack a picnic and head to some of our favourite spots:

    • Sarakiniko - The iconic ‘Moon beach’ is a great spot for photos and a quick dip. There are no beach bars of tavernas here, only a small drinks van in the carpark on your way in. Be mindful that there is no shade at this beach, and no sand for an umbrella.

    • Fyropotamos - A beautiful seaside village with amazing views and great spots for diving into the water.

    • Tsigrado Beach - A secluded gem reached by climbing down a rope and ladder through a narrow rock passage.
Note: Access is very challenging. If you have mobility issues, are not comfortable with steep ladders, or have children with you we highly recommend you only access this beach via boat.

    Activities

    • Boat trips

Milos by land is beautiful, Milos by sea is a must see.

At the port of Milos (Adamas), you’ll find plenty of boats offering day trips around the island.

Prices typically start at around €35 per person and vary depending on the type of tour.

These excursions range from half-day to full-day adventures and take you to stunning spots like Kleftiko - an iconic destination only accessible by sea.

No need to book online, just book at the boat or one of the many tourist shops selling tours a day or two prior.

    • Milos Donkey Farm

    • Visit the Catacombs and Ancient Theater of Milos

    • Plaka: The island’s capital (and where the church we will be getting married in is located!) Great for shopping, dining, and catching sunset from the castle ruins.

    • Klima: A colorful fishing village with traditional “syrmata” boathouses right on the water.

    • Mandrakia & Firopotamos: Tiny seaside villages perfect for photos, seafood, and a quiet stroll.

    • ‘Cocktails to Go’ located in Plaka and enjoy a stroll at sunset with a drink in hand.

    • O’Hamos - Located in Adamas, no bookings - walk ins only with long wait times, but the food is so worth it!

    • Medusa - For the seafood lovers

    • Cacciatore - located in Adamas, great authentic Italian food

    • Foras - Located in Plaka, traditional Greek cuisine

    • Utopia bar - try get there early for one of the best sunset views on the island

    • Artemis Bakery - Located in Adamas. Chloe’s favourite bakery in Greece. This is a perfect and budget friendly option for breakfast and take-away lunches for your day-trips!
